Is Your Skin Getting Drier As You Age?
How Age Affects Your Skin
It is obvious that as we get older, our skin will also change. Our skin becomes drier and we become different people at 50 from the people we were at 25, due to exposure to the sun, wind, and changes in our hormone levels.
What are the main causes? Skin is unable to hold onto moisture as well as it previously did as we age. In our 20s, the metabolism of our skin begins to slow down. Skin may feel visibly drier and flakier by the time we are in our 40s and 50s. Our body creates less collagen and elastin as the effects of sun damage deepen wrinkles, which dehydrates the skin and makes wrinkles worse. Additionally, as menopause progresses, estrogen levels decrease, causing the skin to become thinner and less elastic.
Skincare Routine for a Healthy and Ageless Appearance
The skincare routine is not that difficult to follow for a youthful, healthy appearance. All you have to do is stay true to these easy steps:
- Every morning and evening, wash your face with a mild cleanser appropriate for your skin type.
- Use a toner to cleanse your face of any last traces of makeup or grime.
- To remove dead cells and give your skin a refreshed appearance, exfoliate it once or twice a week.
-Use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type and needs to hydrate your skin; however, avoid using too much as this can clog pores.
